1997 Geek Awards

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, this was a tradition started by Kelvin Lawrence the 2nd year of ColoradOS/2 in Cheyenne, and I've been doing it for the last several years at the annual Friday night pizza party, with some help from Aidon typically. The first year Kelvin actually collected fees from all the 'winners' to help buy the next round of drinks - now it's an honorary award, with nothing gained nor lost, besides a bit of embarrassment and laughter.

Anyway - here they are! If they aren't funny to you, bummer - you should have been at the party - they were hilarious then < grins >
Evan Bergman for pulling circuit boards out from his back pack.
Paul VanKeep For having an animated GIF readily available when someone asked for one.
Mike Brown For challenging Europeans, who don't know jack, to play American "You Don't Know Jack" - and trouncing them.
Mike Cowlishaw For falling through a wall, from one presentation to the one next door.
Rick McGuire For toasting another Thinkpad in Colorado.
Paul Giangarra for bringing his own fishing lures - again.
Mike Bowler for having his birthday during the conference.
Kelvin Lawrence for starting the Geek Awards 5 years ago.
Russel Coker for buying a bathing suit today in town for the Polar Bar club, and then not coming.
Chris Matthews for being able to debug across and RMI connection.
Bryan Walker For being the only voice I recognized through two doors and a ceiling from the party upstairs.
Dion for being an Australian, and wearing cow pajamas to the party.
David Moskowitz For finally paying me back for giving his multithreading talk 4 years ago.
Aidon Jennery for travelling back to Austin for a day and then coming back.
Roeddy Green For coming to the party with his badge on.
Michel for geeking out on his incredibly geeky t-shirt.
Jay In the absence of Timur Tabi, for having the coolest geek hair.
Kimberly for referring to the rooms Mike Cowlishaw fell out of and into as the source and destination rooms.
